Denis Mallet has spoken with the International designers’ Network for IdN Magazine about the use of patterns in brand identity design and why it is important to ensure they link to and enhance the elements of the client’s brand.
Repeated components and patterns have always been present throughout our practice and helped to create some of the most striking and memorable of our designs. Patterns are interesting as graphic tools that can expand and strengthen the principle logo design. Creating a brand identity with a pattern is always a matter of finding meaning and balance.
In the interview with IdN Magazine, we speak about two projects — Arch Residential and Mathias Tanguy visual identity — both of which utilise patterns to carry a story and bring logic to the design.
